WEEK 4 - OUR FIRST MONTH IN NEW YORK

We have now been in the Big Apple for officially 4 weeks.  Here is a quick wrap-up of what we have achieved in this time:
  • No of jobs that Tim & Bek have applied for = 49
  • No of job interviews Tim & Bek have attended = 0
  • No of boys "of interest" to Kate = 3
  • No of weddings attended = 1
  • No of days we hit the gym = 21
  • No of gigs we have attended = 1
  • No of sporting events we have attended = 0
  • No of toilets unblocked = 1 (well done Tim)
  • No of rad new bars we have visited = too many to count
  • No of new friends we have made = 20+ thanks to Laura Quinn for introducing us to all her fantastic mates
Let's hope next month leads to lots of job interviews, gigs, dates for Kate & trips to Madison Square Garden and Yankee Stadium.

DOGS OF NEW YORK

Turns out that people aren't the only hipsters in New York City.  Around every corner we are being out-styled and out-done by the coolest pooches on the planet.   There are big dogs, really big dogs, small dogs, dogs in jackets, dogs in shoes and even dogs in prams.

Dogs are allowed in most places here, except for
the Cheese Shop in Brooklyn (for obvious reasons)

Scooby Doo meets 101 Dalmations

For a place without backyards, we were surprised by number of large dogs inhabiting this city.  One would assume that small dogs are the obvious choice for apartment living, however it is almost entirely the opposite.  The super-sized dog is the must-have-accessory that serves as the cool-equivalent of the rockstar boyfriend or designer purse.

And just like their glamourous owners, these dogs are exercised, preened & primped daily.  There are no overweight canines in New York.

And where do these uber cool pooches hang out when Mum & Dad are at work?  On the fire escape of course.

Fire escapes aren't just for emergency exits
