Fashion Week

This week is Fashion Week in NYC, for Spring/Summer 2011. The timing! First on my weekend hit list was to head out on a morning walk to the Upper West to soak up the vibe.

Here I am in my joggers and gym gear with my trusty camera and who do I spy with the same idea this Saturday morning... but Scott Schuman of 'The Satorialist' fame. I love this blog! It's a pictorial commentry on men's and women's fashion as observed by him and his team in street scapes around the world. Check it out – www.thesartorialist.blogspot.com

Here's what I saw at the Lincoln Centre (West 62nd St) this morn...

Scott Schuman doing his thing...

So my fashion week tip for the ladies is animal print, the louder the better, long flowing skirts and chunky shoes. Get amongst it ladies! And for the gents go for some loafers or preppy/polished trainers with cropped pants to show them off. Not for all I know! Bow ties also made several appearances.

After all the people watching I could muster I headed back to West 50th via Central Park. It was a lovely day out, must pack a picnic and head back for a day of sunning before summer dwindles here.

Pop Chips

I love a good salty, crunchy snack and these things are rocking my world! Part rice cracker, part potato chip and good(ish) for you. Lets just say it's not as bad as a slice of pizza dripping with cheese and the size of your head. Far from it!

Chelsea Market

We discovered this place on our last visit to NYC. I love it! So naturally, I headed back for lunch and another look around the area as one of my first outings since arriving here in Manhattan.

It's a permanent market with lots of little shops and stalls. There's things like delis, specialty brownies and cupcakes, fresh seafood, soups, meats, fruit and veg and some homewares. And that's only to mention a few.

And look what's just around the corner... Jeffrey! A very luxurious mini department store. Needless to say I did not drop any cash in there this early in my travels. Way too sensible for my own good.
