If you have to be stuck in traffic...

... on a Friday afternoon, on a jerky bus. Then I guess this ain't a bad view.

More Roo in your Do

Ok, since when has the humble Aussie kangaroo had anything to do with polished, glossy hairstyles?!

Apparently the Roo is quite the marketable entity over here. I was watching cable TV this morning and did a double take when I heard the line... "Get more Roo in your Do." Hmmmm. I want the Roo as far away from my hair as possible thank you.

I've also found Wallaby 'creamy Australian style' Yoghurt. Quite nice I must say, but something else I didn't know we were known for. Now, Greek yoghurt I have heard of.

(In true SJP SATC monologue style)

I couldn't help but wonder... do the yanks* have Australia all wrong?

*Well, those that haven't visited our bountiful land down under yet.

An Upper East Side Sunday

What started out as an overcast Sunday morning turned into a beautiful, sunny and quite warm day.

I decided to pound the pavement and go exploring on the Upper East Side. This turned into quite the mammoth trek. Here's the ground I covered...

It's such an opulent area and it really does feel strangely familiar, I guess because it's so often captured on screen. Pretty tree-lined streets, fancy stoops, high-end boutiques and glamorous people. Walking along Madison Avenue there's every high-end designer you've ever heard of and many more. While the budget can't quite stretch that far it's still nice to stroll along and take it all in.

I got as far as 86th street until my throbbing feet told me it was time to subway it back to home base.

I feel like this post needs the all too familiar Upper East Side sign-off...

A morning market mission

On Saturday I had the urge to go market hunting. After a quick google, I set out on a trip to The Market NYC. Apparently the best market for emerging designers and in a great location between Soho and Nolita. Ok, so maybe another excuse to go shopping down that way.

What a hidden gem! Literally, most of the stalls are that of upcoming jewellery designers. It's actually quite a small market in a local gymnasium, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in unique, one-off designs.

I got some great little stacking rings and I think I'll be going back. While there wasn't much apart from jewellery at the market, I did snag a great vintage summer dress on my way back through Soho. The shopping here is crazy with a capital C.
